LAST WEEK WAS TOUGH

LAST WEEK WAS TOUGH

Up to my haircut in grief.
Feels like I am juggling chainsaws
on an ice rink in a hurricane.
Another memorial service tomorrow.
I am okay, but last week was tough.

My thoughts edited with a little help from my friend Todd.

Brian,
I read here on a regular basis. I know how tough last week was for you and the other member's in your small supportive CLL group. It also rocked me as I read the news of losing two wonderful men to this relentless cancer. My husband, Tom, also has an aggressive form of CLL. He was dx in 2004 just a few weeks after turning 50. He has been on every trial that he qualified for at MDACC. He is now on the btk inhibitor trial. It has been over a year and a half of straight treatment including Rituximab/solumedrol/Revlimid/btk......his patient notes say he is refractory/relapsed. His first treatment was FCR in 2004. He is one of the 300 trial rats for that treatment.
Although his absolute CD19 in his latest flow went up from 591(H) on Oct. 22nd to 1300(H) on Dec 20th, we continue to have a most wonderful life together. I appreciate your words everytime I read them but mostly I appreciate your spirit and compassion for life.

Understandable. I'm sure I'm not the only regular reader of this blog who felt this without your even saying it (but I like that you did say it). We "mourn with those who mourn" (Romans 12:15). Thinking and praying this day for you, for all in your local group and for everyone everywhere wrestling with the sobering realities.
