"my friend"

My dad calls the infusion pump his friend, as it tags along with him everywhere he goes. Connected to the circulatory system, friend provides chemotherapy and a cocktail of drugs to keep him feeling alright.
Calm, collected, nauseous, but happy, describe my dad when I left the hospital this evening. As the intensity of his treatment gradually escalates, he moves forward without anxiety.

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo...

The lotus flower blooms and grows in brackish muck, and yet it remains pristine and free from any defilement. Although you currently find yourself surrounded in the brackish muck of cancer, I am convinced that you will emerge from it undefiled, and stronger in mind, body, and spirit.
Godspeed my friend.

Does it beep too? Don’t you hate when it beeps and tells you “I need more poison please”. I always get the one that is not fully charged so once it is unplugged and you are on the move you get that “beep”.
