The stem cells from the other side of the world arrived in Brian's room tonight around dinner time and were greeted with awe, and a profound respect for the undisclosed donor. I had imagined I would feel like crying, but instead felt elated and weightless. As his counts have not yet dropped, Rachael, Nick, Heather, Ben, Laura, Will and I were allowed to be present. A blanket of deep calm filled the room. Oddly, we resumed familiar pastimes... reading, sketching, embroidery, Sudoku, joking. To the donor's stem cells: "Welcome home!"
