About Me
- Name: Brian Koffman
- Location: Claremont, CA, United States
BkoffmanMD@gmail.com A family doc and husband of 1 and father of 4 and grandfather of 3 who loves his family and his work. I live with no TV and no microwave, but wouldn't last a minute without friends, art, music, books and the beach. Hockey, good jokes and exotic travel are pretty important too. Writing, Talmud and Zen give meaning to my life. My diet is organic vegan, often raw. I hope the blog makes the load lighter and the path both safer and more fun for those who read it or are going to similar places. I want to help. I crave your comments. If you are new to the blog, check out the portrait my son Will painted (it is the first post), and my very first text post.

You look great. Mustache and all.
You look great, doc! Love the mustache! I am so glad that things are going well for you. Praise the Lord!
You are so terrific. You look great.
Dear Dr. Koffman, I am so glad to hear you are doing better. My mother was also wondering how you are doing. She will be delighted to hear that you are doing better. Excuse me for saying this but when I had heard you had Leukemia I felt certain you were going to die. I hope you can return to your practice very soon. I always respected you as a doctor and more importantly as a human being and I think I am a very good judge of character even though I don't think too much of my own character. Right now in your absence I am seeing Dr. Kao. She is also a very good doctor. I am glad to see you have a sense of humor. Although I am not and never have been or will be an MD I think the ability to laugh is a key to good health although to laugh sometimes I have to have a drink or two. Unfortunately it seriously does runs in my family. One of my mother's cousins was a diplomat who spoke eight languages including Russian. He wanted to serve in the British embassy in Moscow but his wife preferred the bad weather in England to the worse weather in Russia. This was at the height of the Cold War. Before negotiating he always enjoyed and offered a gin and tonic. He found that it helped reduce tension. He and the Russians would have gotten along very well together. He finished his diplomatic career as commissioner of the British Virgin Islands where the weather is very good all year long except when there is a hurricane brewing in the Carribean. Since you like traveling I would encourage you to go there. You might even be enetertained by a British diplomat during your visit. That was one of my mother's cousins official responsibilities, entertaining visiting dignitaries.
On a far more serious note I intend to stop drinking. I will kick the bottle if it is the last thing I do. Please email me to let me know you read my comments.
PS I also enjoy the Talmud although I cannot read or understand Hebrew. I also greatly enjoy the writings of the Apostle Paul who was a student of Gamaliel, one of the top Talmudic teachers/Rabbis of his day. The only one to surpass them in wisdom was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself who God incarnate and Paul became His top disciple while traveling to Damascus. The Lord is also the best physician. He was and is famous for healing people. I will you keep in my prayers.
One of your devoted patients, Daryl Long
