Still waiting

3:25 PM
I have had about 25 minutes contact time with the discharge staff in the last 8 and 1/2 hours.
Still at the hospital waiting for my prescriptions and PICC supplies and masks and final instructions.
What's more of a concern is there may have been a mistake in what I was told about my engraftment report. That could be a big deal. Hate to leave you hanging, but that's my situation. I just don't have all the information.
Reminds of the old joke about the Jewish Telegram: "Start worrying. Details to follow."
Again, I have promised myself not to borrow trouble, so I will just try to wait out the answer calmly with positive expectations.

Dr Koffman, It's Rodney, one of your patients. I am sorry for not checking in earlier. I am also very sorry to hear of your condition. I hope and pray for your full recovery.

I cannot count the number of hours I've spent waiting to be discharged from the hospital over the past 12 years with CLL. It can be maddening. But you have done so wonderfully with your transplant, I cannot imagine having one angry bone in your body today. Celebrate! You have renewed my hope in transplants.

How frustrating! I was looking forward to hearing that you were home already. I feel so honored to be able to 'listen in' on your amazing journey. So when you get home, and have a moment of boredom, I have a request for you. Would you explain some of those BIG WORDS in terms that a lay person might understand? Words like: haematopoetic, myloablative, and neutrophils. Lots of love and good wishes, Claire

Brian is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. Our prayers and wishes go out to him and his family for support and comfort. It is great to hear the positive aspects of the process.

Brian: I know the issues with the baldness. YOu know that I am in the process of losing hair and you have helped me slow that process. However, bald (or shaved) can be a good way to go. Let's look at Patrick Steward (I may have his name spelled incorrectly here). Ialso know many others who are not so famous that are bald and very confident in themselves and their looks. You are such an awesome person, hair or no hair is not an issue. Good luck and God Bless.
