Good and Bad

What started as a personal journey of a doctor turned patient morphed into a way to share what’s universal in dealing with cancer, in my case a nasty leukemia (CLL), a failed transplant and a successful clinical trial. The telling of my journey has become a journey to teach about CLL, related blood issues and all cancers. Please visit our new website http://cllsociety.org for the latest news and information. Brian, I am so sorry to read of Miriam's passing. So very soon after diagnosis. I can relate to the sadness of her passing. About 3 years ago I had to take our Willie to the vet also. He was falling over and couldn't get up, he couldn't find his food bowl, etc. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but necessary for him. Our furry kids are family. My deepest sympathy.
Congratulations to Ben for accomplishing this goal. I am sorry this joyous time was later marred by sadness. From the top of the mountain into the deep valley all in one day. You are all in my thoughts.
So sorry to hear about Miriam. I have had to live though similar circumstances with a few dogs and it is tough. Sounds like an emotional day with the ups of your son's graduation and the low with this news. Hang in there
triumph and tragedy on the same day.
Congratulations to your son (and to you and his mom). Sympathy for the loss of Miriam, your faithful dog.
Hugs,
So sorry re Miriam, that is really sad for you all, she will be watching over you. Best wishes, Brian.
Dear Dr. K,
My heart is heavy for your loss. I think we have all lost a beloved animal and know that pain that your family is suffering. However, I am so happy that you put your feelings aside and did what you thought was best for Miriam. Now you are blessed with all the wonderful and funny memmories of all your years together.
Congratulations to Ben. I can see your chest swelling with pride as your write about him. How could he be anything but creative with parents like you?
Now........OK, OK, OK.........I know it's not nice to brag.......but what about them DUCKS? Up 2/0 in round one......we could lock out the 1st place sharks this week! WHOO HOO....still not too late to change teams you know.....
Have a blessed day. It has to be beautiful down at the beach....as it is beautiful up here in CH.
Blessings,
JC
So sorry to hear about Miriam. Pets truly become part of the family. In 2005, my 21 year old cat(Precious)that I purchased (whole other story)for my sons when they were 1 and 3 had to be relieved of his suffering. My big strong, "manly men" came to say good-bye (you may remember them) and couldn't bear to go with me to the vet. I happened to look over my balcony at them as they were leaving and Aaron (the younger) was picking Clarence (the older) son up from the lawn...they both were diswrought and trying to help each other. They didn't remember NOT having a cat.
Whew!!! That was a tough day!!! I am just now getting to the point where I would like another pet.
Congratulations on your son's graduation! He is a wonderful artist. But how could he be anything else when you and your wife both opened up the WHOLE world for your children to consider!

I'm sorry for your loss. Since we just lost our Bear, I can understand what you are feeling. I still expect him to bark when I come home. It's tough to not see him when I get home.
It is unfair to have someone you love suffer. I wish that there was an effective therapy. I had high hopes for the MCP. It obviously needs time to work.
This is a cruel cancer indeed.
My condolences
