Forgetting

Yesterday I had Fentanyl and Versed in my head so that I could have a scope in my stomach for my esophagogastroduodenoscopy or EGD. Although my wife said I was polite, coherent and appropriate, I remember next to nothing after the procedure. Thankfully I remember nothing at all about the procedure itself, a scope of my stomach and first part of my small bowel to follow up on some minor unexpected and hopefully unimportant changes noted two years ago on a biopsy.

I don't even remember enjoying the brief opioid high even though Fentanyl is supposed to be a real kick. Don't ask me though.

My wife tells me that they told me that nothing was found during the exam. Biopsies are pending.

Weird being so amnesiac. Hope I am OK today. Hard to self monitor when the problem is your ability to remember and monitor what you said. I was and could still be totally unaware of how poorly I process the recent memories.

They need something like these drugs for PTSD. There is actually some interesting research on using Beta-blockers to cut off the emotional content of violent memories, but this combo wipes the whole slate clean.

I don't like being unaware and I sure don't like being dopey.

LOL....you dopey.....never........ I'm sure your mind will be back to normal going 100 MPH today. Glad to hear that they didn't find anything new. Will be praying the biopsies come back the same way.

Blessings,

Judy
